Hi Heslaw

I graduated from University of Western Ontario from Canada this year. GPA: 3.78/4, and am working in a small hedge fund in U.S. i passed cfa level 1 this June and am planning taking level 2 exam next june. I am considering applying for LSE's master in finance program as well. I just start preparing the application recently: have to take Gmat, and write P/S. Any advices regarding my situation and my likehood of getting into the program? As i read your classmates' profiles, they all have outstanding resumes.

Another quesiton regarding the job hurting prospective for 2010, any insight for what will happen next year?

Lastly, since most internships are duirng summer, do you have any ideas when and where should we find internships?

fabulous background i should say. if you get around 700 for gmat and develop a concrete PS, i will not be surprised to see you next year in LSE. if you feel comfortable, i can proof read your PS.

just for your info, one of my classmate worked in a french hedge fund for 3 years.

regarding the job must, it is still unclear at the moment. Xmas firing was over. depends on 1st quarter reports, there may be another round of firing a couple of months later

for the large banks, Internships are still open. their hiring model is internship--->full time

anyway, you can apply for the 2 year working visa in 2010.  that will surely give both you and the employers sufficient amount of time to match each other.

楼主辛苦了！ 我想请问一下，master in risk regulation 这个项目怎样啊。当时申请的时候觉得这个项目比金融项目要细一点，竞争要小一点。就申请了，都申请了两个月了，还是在under consideration of the department.LSE是不是出结果比较慢啊！

MSc in Management and risk regulation has been running for serveral years. It is not really  a small programme. I meet some of the students during graduate weekend parties. they are not only dealing with financial risks, but all other aspects as well. for example, political risk, social risk, environmental risk, operational risk etc etc. In terms of competition, maybe you are right, as in, it is less competitive.

your application outcome will be known soon. the admission office is closed at the moment. do stay happy and enjoy the festivals

sending GMAT score is required

you just scan your supporting documents

ref letter can be filled online
