记住一件事，如果原句是用动词的话，选项就不能乱改它的词性，毕竟动词是表动作，而名词是表状态的，动词>名词，这是AT没有明说的规矩

谢谢！

楼上的提醒让我多想了一些：by/through+doing中的doing虽是动名词，但是更强调动作，因而动词>名词；这不同于另外一种强调名词性的动名词，比如the increasing of costs>the increase of costs

错了错了，the increase of costs > the increasing of costs

umm...increase in cost，不能用of。
illness是一直在prevent的，所以用现在分词， worker performance是一次性提高的，而且已经提高了，所以用过去分词。
preventing在此不是动名词，是现在分词。

对于这个prep上关于improved的解释不是很明白。为什么worker performance是一次性提高的，而且已经提高了。

我认为illness可以不断prevent，performance也可以不断improve的。而且文中有什么证据证明performance是已经提高了吗？

请指教！
