It will be a tough decision for me, if I got offers from both Queen's and Ivey...  Queen's gave me a very good impression during my application process.

My background: Bachelor of Engineering with an unexceptional GPA of 75/100; 7 years W/E with a multinational company including 3 years general management experience; 3 professional awards in my past career; GMAT 740, 5.0; TOEFL 643, 6.0.

Application process: Submitted application on 12/28/04; Got interview invitation on 1/22/05; Took phone interview on 1/28/05; Got offer on 2/3/05.

No.  I didn't apply for any US business schools due to family reason.  I am a Canada permanent resident and will leave for Toronto next month.  I want to stay with my family in Canada.

By the way, I wrote to Ivey on Thursday evening and got very positive feedback on my application.  I decide to go ahead and take a phone interview next week.  Then think about the tough decision.

I am relatively free now.  If I can be of help to anyone here, please feel free to let me know.  Good luck to all!

Congrats, GT-Mar, for your offer from Queens.

However, If your career preference is in management consulting, you'd better be well-prepared for your next Ivey interview and try to secure its offer. Ivey is without doubt one of the world-class leader in this area, which is proved by the No. 1 ranking by top-tier Management Consulting firms.

Hi mgdream, I was just about to say no to Ivey interview when I read your message...  I spoke to some friends in Canada and native Canadians/Americans.  They all gave consistent opinions that both schools are pretty the same in Canada.  Both are extraordinary there.  Considering the timing of Queen's program and its highly personalized student services, I tend to go with Queen's.

Your information is quite important to me.  Could you please tell me where you found out "Ivey is without doubt one of the world-class leader in this area, which is proved by the No. 1 ranking by top-tier Management Consulting firms."?

Thanks a bunch!

Hi, GT-Mars, I agree that Queen's has very good student services and also a short period program.

In terms of career choice in MC area, as I know, almost each Top North American MC firm goes to Ivey for recruiting (both summer and permanent), some of them are very selective about which school to recruit (especially in Canada), I'm not sure whether Queens has such a wide relationship with MC industry. and Ivey has the largest alumni pool in North American MC firms, for sure.

However, a two-year program will be a tougher committment and Ivey's case method is another formidable obstacle for non-native speakers. So it's not a easy decision to choose a MBA program.
