本题关键在于修饰关系，只要知道long-overdue这个词在句子中要表达本意就好了，句子的本意是“迟到已久的认可” （More than fifty years 和some of them posthumously提示这种认可来的太迟了），所以long-overdue只能用来修饰recognition。排除AC。

名词award指Congressional Medal of Honor，所以long-overdue recognition不可能通过介词for修饰award，排除BD。

剩下E，搭配Sb. be awarded Honor in recognition of sth.没有问题。

我觉得这题考的是修饰成分的层次，有很多类似的prep或者gwd题，这个题最主要的是idiom ：in recognition of 承认。。。
至于award 的用法，不太清楚，没有找到类似的题，不知道gmat喜欢award with 还是直接加名词，不过通过这个题的正确选项先记住后者吧。其他的错误也可以选出选项。

We don't need a conjunction after ", called the taste pore," because this section is set off in commas, basically just adding extra info.
