I am doing MBA in Switzerland, not have a clue about MBA graduates in the States. But one thing very impressive in our class, 9 of total 42 students are from the States, the biggest population in terms of nationality. Some used to be traders, some former bankers. One guy worked for Lehman Brothers and before that he worked for AIG! their attitude: no more IB, go industry!

Am curious about why some guys here continuously besmirch the LZ. Yes, you do have some points. But no one is perfect. In other words, I have to say that a true option is to getting into the liberal art college, like Wellesley and Amherst, to pick up some introspective & open-minded understanding of What is the Passion, Respect, or even Arrogance, as well as the Way of Communicating with People have different perspectives. If you do so, you will be a successful leader in globe rather than a kind of financial experts or other managers.

Yes, you got a MBA, you can make money. But, What else? Why we here? We do talk about the getting in, but also focus on some real learning and real growth each other here. Why you wanna others to follow a way of what you think? So, I kindly hope No Aspersion! No Bigot! at here.

HSGMBA同学,你如果看过Monkey Business,你也许知道在IB做过的人都不太想回IB,我们学校Lehman brothers出来的,最想去buy side,其次consulting,去industry的很少,都是冲着以后CFO的方向努力.有了IB背景当然是no IB了.但是没有IB的背景,申请这些好工作的机会和有IB的背景的人,谁的机会更大.

DC2000, we were classmates? or we are classmates? why I have no clue who you are, sister? Oh no, I am not your brother and you are not my sister.

I never read "Monkey Business", and I don't have IB background, so, honestly, I don't know what's your point? Experience always counts, but I am sure I will not be left behind by these American former traders or I bankers in Swiss or German speak area job market.

Season changed.

I am already doing MBA, so, I will be on the same boat with those already "on board" MBAs. But, I do think before going MBA, better ponder over, given recent "from bad to worse" situation.

thinkaaron同学,我和LZ无冤无仇,.楼主提供一些不同的PERSPECTIVE,提醒申请者考虑投资风险是好事,但是利用信息不对称,在cd这样有影响力的论坛发表<08 毕业 TOP10 MBA 在美就业真实情况>,我实在对楼主的观点不敢苟同.

而且既然是做research,居然只做片面报道,sample size...后面的大量跟综research还力图支撑这一观点,实在是让人不解...

今年的适龄申请者确实很痛苦,过两年如果升职了,有可能overqualify, 而且b-school也很在意能否给applicant add value,你如果不小心在IB/MC升了associate/VP,有可能HBS都觉得你念MBA不make sense.而且牛人都拖后两年申请的话,到时候这个竞争的惨烈...In addition,如果你进了top b-school可能还要去问以前背景不如你的人network,等你毕业了,人家赶上世道好,升VP了...

我建议大家可以把目标学校一分为二,申请一半,如果申请到了,看明年对2011年市场的预测,如果前景不乐观,可以申请defer一年,就算学校不批准,你也还有另外一半学校可以申请.如果明年对2011年市场的预测前景乐观,那就美国见了.

每个人读mba，原因都有所差别。要根据自己的实际情况而定，而不是大环境决定一切。
