Before rendering an opinion, it is crucial to take a glance at the issue
on both sides. People who consider a zoo has no useful purpose often offer
these common reasons. The first is that to visit a zoo costs them some money
while they can watch a TV programme about animals freely. The second is that
the amount of aninals in the zoo is too small and the spectators can not have a
glimpse of the spectacular scene as they often see in the movies. However, when
compared with the advantages of the zoo, these drawbacks can be almost
overlooked.

    

 

    

  
First, the zoo provide a chance for us to get to know large amount of
animals by oberving them at a short distance. While there is an unbridgeable
gulf between us and the animals in the TV screen, we can have a authentic
contact with them in the zoo. Were it not the help of zoo, the impressive scene
which horses, eagles, tigers, lions and any other animals all get together in
such a small place could merely exist in our dream. What’s more, through some
meaningful activities such as touching them, feeding them, everyone has a vivid
experience and is inclined to know more about these special species. Thanks to
the zoo, more and more people realise the great importance of biological
diversity and participant the group of saving the wild lives.

    

 

    

   Second, the zoo is the refuge where many
endanger animals dwell. Because of some complicated problems, a few animals
fail to adapt to current climate on the earth and are dying out. Given this
situation, many biologists appeal to government to take measures and as a
result, the zoo becomes some endanger animals’ paradise. In the zoo, there is
no hunters threaten them, no famine, for food is supplied on time, and more
important of all, no human interruption except some examinations by the
doctors. Though we believe these endangered species, including the bald eagle,
puma, panda, will live with ease in the wild in the future, at present, the zoo
is their alternative habitate.

    

 

    

  
Lastly, making money through the tickets, the zoo appropriates fund for
nature protection. And the ultimate goal is to restore the “natural zoos”, like
the rainforest, the plain, and to improve the environment in every respect,
including the air , the water, the oil. To be sure, everyone who comprehends
this significant objective and becomes part of the group must be proud of
himself/herself.

    

 

    

   As we have seen
the functions of the zoos, how can we dare to allege that the zoo is useless.If
the zoo do not have a far-reaching impact, I do not know what else have.
