题目:The expression "Never, never give up" means to keep trying and never stop working for your goals. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
“Never, never give up”is an excellent living and working attitude. People should have goals and work hard to achieve them. But I just partly agree with “never give up”. In my opinion, sometimes “give up” is better than “never give up”.
In the first place, the world is changing quickly, and at some special time our goals must change with the world. For example, I was ever an employee of a medical device company. My company made a goal to invent the first Chinese coronary artery stent and established a R&D project in 2003. Since then, a lot of human resource and money were invested into this project. However, in September 2004 J&J Company launched its Drug Eluting Stent, and this new product threw coronary artery stent into an outdated situation. How should we do? Should we hold on our prime goal and continue to invent such an outdated product or extinct this project immediately and resume a new one? I think the answer of this question is obvious.
In the second place, if someone’s goal will do harm to himself/herself or others, maybe the goal needs to be given up. In my village, there was a high school student. He was really eager to go to a college, so he worked very hard and even forgot food and sleep. But unfortunately, he did not be accepted by any colleges after review and review for 5 years. At last, this poor boy got a serious mental disease, and then his family fell in terrible poverty because of his illness. It is not hard to imagine that if this boy had given up to go to college and entered a technical school, maybe this tragedy would never happen. In world war two, German goal to conquer the world is another example should be given up, because it injured too many people.
Of course, I absolutely don’t mean that we should give up our goals as we face difficulties. Insisting on and working hard are the only way to succeed in our study or work. Otherwise, we will accomplish nothing in whole lives. If so, what a boring life it is!
But when your goal is outdated or will hurt others or yourself, I suggest you to give up it. |
