The MBA experience is great, but does it help financial-wise and career-wise? It's a dilemma for those who make around 5w/month and have good jobs.
For those making much less, for instance, 2W/month, a top 15 MBA is attractive because the expected post MBA salaries from those schools are much higher than 2W/month; for those making much more, for instance, several millions a year, they have great experience and are highly sought for and they can easily find comparable positions after the MBA. However, it's a dilemma for those who have mid-level management work and good salaries. Their salaries are comparable to the expected salaries of the MBAs from those top schools or even higher. 2 years MBA program is expensive for them considering the tuition + the opportunities cost, but it's uncertain how much it helps to their career progress, especially, they may get promoted if they stay in their jobs. On the other hand, it's likely that they won't be able to find positions as good as the ones they have before attending the programs.
It's not shameful to think about an MBA education in terms of investment return. I agree that some people attend an MBA program just for experience, but majorities of the MBA students enter b-schools for better pays and better career progress.
Hehe, once you have that much money, you don't need to worry about making living then you can do whatever you are really interested in without thinking the outcome. But for most people, it costs them a fortune to attend a good MBA program, therefore, they have to consider how much they can get from the program.
