对不起, 我以为前面的帖子一直都在讨论og-160.

160. 当答案最後只有c, e时, 除了最後的语法, still others call 和 still others are calling, 也可以看到在"to decrease"的分别.

c. suggest the reduction of software prices for decreasing the incentive for pirating, and still others call
e. suggest reducing software prices to decrease the incentive for pirating, and still others are calling

我觉得og的解释很好, 答案c的for decreasing 有偏离题目的意思. 应该是suggest ....to decrease the incentive for pirating.....
那就只有答案e对了.
请指教.

我在比较c/e的时候我并没有看到后面的东西，当我看到c:the reduction of software prices E：reducing software prices 的时候我就把C丢掉了，因为在逻辑意思合理的情况下动词优先使用。

i think the structure of the sentence     is " while some propose to do SOMETHING by ... , others suggest "BY" reduceing ... ,and still others are calling for ...     ; not by suggesting ,but suggest by reducing. and the "by" be omitted.

楼上说得有点道理, E可以理解为省略:

While some propose to do something by,...other susgest (to do someting by),..., and other are calling for...

楼主的策略不错.具体在我用来,

(1)while部分是从句, others是主句,所以动词不能省略.我想这就是楼主说的句子不完整.(我们不能搬什么公理,因为ETS很可能接着考我们在从句中主语+by doing, 谁也不能肯定这种用法行不行).

(2)关于"动词优先使用"和"平行结构"谁优先级高的问题,我想我们也不能下断言,可能要看具体情况.

(3)这句的难点是whild some do, others do, and still others are doing这样的平行结构让我辈看着不爽. 不知那位NN能对这种平行再举几个例子或者进一步探讨一下?

实际上细读句子,作者表达了一种意思:

some propose..., other suggest...., and still others  is calling for...

作者的意思是:"calling for the prosecution of those who copy software illegally"已经存在了,而propose, suggest的方法还在讨论阶段.

这样理解行吗? 请大家指教

我想同意siebel的意见，看来还是没有深切领会ETS不会错的真谛。要全部吃透，还真不容易唉，还要防止吃得太多，消化不良。有点象在说今天的月饼。
