Well, I believe it's the common knowledge that the lifestyle and compensation in buyside is better than sellside, esp. in the mid-to-long term.

Since you are talking about II, you shall be a research analyst.  Frankly speaking, I don't think the compensation in research can beat that in buyside.  Besides, pls be humble, ranking No.1 in II is great, but pls ask yourself what's your contribution - how many votes did you get?

Anyways, sincerely wish you good luck in the job interview. After all, career development is a marathon.

我做buyside的感觉是没有那么累 至于薪水么 应该和你想的不一样 尤其是做company fundamental这边的 另外未来能去做fund manager的这条career path可能有吸引力 毕竟这边是做投资的 工作的角度和方法也可能会有很大不同

Agree, I worked for buyside in Singapore and now am doing hedge fund ( fundamental equity analyst) in US. I believe, at my current stage ( 1-3 year investment experience, top tier US MBA degree, and some consulting experiences before b school ), base salary is at the same level as sell side analyst. Of course, everybody knows bonus is big chunk of total package. Buyside depends on the performance of your fund but sell side depends on how well you sell your story. At the end of the day, both are tough jobs but I like buy side more because of much better life style and buyer power

I am in corporate finance do not know much about buyside, but I think buyside is good that it just charged fees on funds, like pension, great secured income when market in down turn.

Have any one work in corporate finance before and move to buyside? Buyside life style really much better?
