美国州都不同

我知道的州国内有本没有用的

简单来说去DMV或者MVD拿个该州的driver's handbook，学习1-2天，然后笔试，过了以后有的州要SSN，你就让他开个证明然后去办SSN，有的州不要ssn你就直接考路试，过了就拿驾照了

It serves as an identity but the most important feature is for the other party to track your credit score/history. If you have low credit scores, you can't apply for credit cards or car loans and do many things in US.
