Thank you for your wise suggestion.Concerning activity and innovation in class, I cannot agree with you more. But dressing ordinary doesn't mean that one isn't aggressive in study. In most cases, respect from others results from excellent performance and good personality not from appearance or clothes.Actually, I have made-up and dressed colorful during college life, making myself attractive.Sometimes I feel so strong that it's hard to balance study and beauty.Well, I haven't decided whether I should change my style in America.

Sorry,I've talked so much...Anyway,thank you for your help.

貌似那位大哥不是这个意思哦

只是说不管做什么 都要show出自己的精彩 不要只想随大流

我也在准备呢...不过不知道自己会不会成功转型啊...

Just be yourself. The thought of 入乡随俗 to force yourself to wear what other people wear is just silly. People seriously don't care at all and will not appreciate your effort. I don't see ANY advantages of doing so. After all, you are just another typical Chinese to them. 学习摆脱平庸姿态? So what? That means nothing at all. Everybody knows Chinese can study well. In fact, paying too much attention to study is a very common and serious problem for Chinese. I have seen many people with 4.0 GPA in US. They are still losers to me because the only thing they know is how to study by themselves. They have very few American friends and they don't know how to socialize with other people. Not surprisingly, they can not find a job here after they graduate because frankly speaking, they are not part of the American world. After all, studying is not your only goal here. Learning how to interact with people, making friends and experiencing the different culture are just as important.

Of course, I am not saying everything 入乡随俗 is bad. In fact, doing what other American normally do such as going to party, going to bar and going to movie theater are good ways to start making friends and learning how to socialize with American people. Having a good appearance will give you an edge when it comes to interacting with people and making people notice you. This is a good way to start being popular and start your success in America. On the other hand, even though dressing beautifully is beneficial, you don't have to do it. But if you have already get used to do it in China, why do you need to change your style?

Do you know why American wear jeans and T-shirts? Because they are lazy. That's all. Jeans and T-shirts are convenient for them to wear and do the things they normally do at school. I hardly see girls having makeup at all at school. But when it comes to partying and dancing at Disco, I see almost every girl wearing mini skirt and having makeup.

You have terribly misunderstood the value of MBA. The courses you take in a MBA program are certainly useful, but they just partially represent the benefits of a MBA program. The biggest asset in a MBA program is the networking resource. In a MBA program, you are able to not only network with your current classmates, which come from different backgrounds, but also with school alumni, professionals in the field and many others. They are invaluable to you in the future no matter where you are in the world. That's why so many people want to go to top 10 business school to pursue a MBA degree. Not the top MBA programs have much better courses design than the others, but top MBA programs' alumni resource and brand recognition are likely much bette than the rest.
