题目“It makes no sense for people with strong technological skills to go to college if they know that they can earn a good salary without a college degree.”

The speaker here claims that there is no need for someone with strong technological skills to pursue a higher degree simply because he or she can earn a good salary. It seems the speaker misunderstands that the only purpose of going to college is to find a job with a satisfactory salary. College study, however, is made up of not only those technological skills but also other items such as communication skills, language ability, involvement in various activities and so forth.

Admittedly, to be paid well is what most graduates expect. Also whether one is highly-paid has become a criterion of success in our society, thus making money rank higher than anything else for some people. Moreover, some paradigms lend some credence to the notion that a good salary is far enough even without a college degree. For instance, Bill Gates dropped out from Harvard two years later after he had entered Harvard, and then started the engine of Microsoft with Allen. What comes next is a world-wide business mythology.

Nevertheless, one will never know what college will bring to your life and your career if he or she is absent. In addition to technological skills, you can derive more from college life, on top of which is probably a series of academic subjects that will contribute a lot to the performance in your future career. In other words, you can apply different theories to a certain project while not using sole kind of technological skills so that you can better solve the problem. Other useful abilities include language ability which is regarded as an overriding factor if you want to be employed by a multinational enterprise. What’s more, learning how to communicate with others will also benefit you before you step into the society.

In the final analysis, college study cannot be skipped even if you are capable of making a lot of money in that it provides more than money.
