You CAN apply for GC even as a F1 visa holder. But it's dangerous since the application for GC shows a strong immigration tendency.

 in case your GC application fails and your current F1 status is gonna to expire, you most probably need to leave US because there's no way for you to renew your F1 or any other normal non-immigration visas.

You still can apply for H1 visa, but you'll face more difficulty.

Here is what would happen: after you receive your Master degree, you find a job and apply for OPT, which lasts as long as one year. During this one year, you can ask your employer to sponsor your H1B visa. I would recommend you to work for more than one year before applying for MBA ( applying when you secure H1B visa ). Based on my understanding, applying when you still in the OPT period will be a huge disadvantage for your post-MBA job hunting because of 1, you don't have OPT any more, and 2, the time restraint on your H1B application.

如果是占名额的，那么按照上面那个MM的说法，到时候MBA毕业以后申请H1B可以不用等到Oct 1.

绝大部分的H1B都是要占名额的。目前我知道的不需要占名额的H1B就只有non-profit org. sponsor的H1B。

如果不放心，就和公司HR确认吧。

如果现有H1B是不占名额的，我的理解是一旦恢复到F1，这个H1B就永久消失了。等到MBA毕业要申请新的H1B的时候，程序会和所有大部分普通H1B一样，4/1递交pentition，10/1生效。 如果在此之前有OPT过渡，身份就没问题。但是4/1 file pentition的时候，学生并没有毕业。在没有毕业证书的情况下，这时候只能用已有学位来file。对于之前只有本科学位的人，就会面临和本科生一起抽签；而对于之前在美国取得master学位并且已经用掉master degree的OPT的人，则要面临在毕业前找到工作的压力。

以上是我的理解，要是有错请指正。身分转换很重要，要是误导了任何人就不好了。今年美国大选，到时候移民法也会有大变动。所以未来的形势现在也很难说。

stonelegend: my H1B is through a company, not with NPO or university. So I think I should be fine.
