Which is more important for success, the results or the specific task? Different people will hold different opinions. In my view, although the results of the success may sometimes encourage us, the course and the specific task of success is more important than the results.
In the first place, worrying about the results has no help to success. Most of the success is laid on numerous failures. A well-known saying-failure is the mother of success, means that there is no easy or direct way to the destination of success without trial and suffering. If people think only about getting results, they will always feel depressed, and this bad emotion will obviously hamper their step to success. The famous American president, Franklin Roosevelt has ever said that the only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Thus, it is absolutely not necessary to over-worry about the results.
In the second place, only those who can get through the tough task of failure can obtain the final success. We can learn from the experience of the great inventor Thomas Alva Edison that sometimes a series of apparent failures is really a precursor to success. The voluminous personal papers of Edison reveal that his inventions typically did not spring to life in a flash of inspiration but evolved slowly from previous woks. Therefore, a task of specific task is important and necessary for us to get success.
Last but not the least, in my view, even some people did not get the expected results at last, they will also have a good harvest from the course of perusing. Some people adjust their goals on the road to the success, and finally get a big surprise that what they initially think of success is not what their really want. Take the example of YuMinhong, a well-known instructor in China for example. At first, he set the goal to pass the English test, GRE, when he saw so many excellent Chinese students went aboard. However, at last he did not go aboard as he expected, instead, he found the fun in teaching Chinese students how to pass the GRE test and established the largest education institution in China. If he consisted to his initiate goals, he may not achieve the great success as today.
To sum up, it is a long way to success. Only thinking about the results will lead us to lose the direction on the road. Therefore, the most important and meaning thing is to focus on the course and devoted to the specific task; finally, we may see the success with our persistence.
