请教PREP SC三道题

这两题长得差不多,第一题选D,第二题选A. 对于In addition to her work on the Miocene hominid fossil record,为什么主语既可以是Leakey's contributions  也可以是Mary Leakey 呢?

The majority of students 后面的谓语动词是单数还是复数呢?中心词不是majority吗?为什么不能选A?

第一题第二题是同一意思的两种表达方法。

In addition to…… Leakey's contributions to archaeology include…… and……

In addition to……Mary Leakey contributed to archaeology through……  and through ……

其实只是考了两个平行结构。

第三题主要考的是句子指代，which不能指代句子。a trend这里指代逗号前面的句子。

在这里the majority of students 的谓语用复数。placing的动名词用法使句子缺少谓语，希望楼主不是把后半句当伴随状，因为a trend是主语，要求相应的谓语。而且place的动名词形式表现不出句子要表达的将来时态。

所以选B。

majority虽然是看成单数，但students的majority是复数，考点主要在于从句中使用will将来时更好的表达了意思。gamc要的是best choice

the majority of students 是不是和a number of students一样,是固定搭配,中心词是OF后面的名词呢,所以谓语动词的单复数和名词保持一致?

a large amount of 只能接不可数名词

huge sum of money，这是最常用的吧，也是接不可数名词

coalescence

根据白勇语法
a number of + 复数名词   谓语用复数
the number of + 复数名词   谓语用单数

huge sums of / large amounts of +不可数名词   谓语用复数
