Definitly Duke.  Almost all companies I interviewed with put Duke as their core school for recruiting. However, Ross would cause some problem because of the location.

Ross is hurt by too many students (>500) in MBA but could not provide a better career service.

First, you should find the reliable source about the number of students in Ross.

Second, location is not an issue to any top 10 programs, you should check the list of companies recruiting in Ross instead of imaging. If you want, you can compare that list with the list from Fuqua. Then you can get your conclustion.

Heihei, someone feel not so comfortable with my words. OK, the class profile is between 400-500.  However, Ross is among the lowest recruiting rate in Top 10.  it around 90% I remember.  And I know some guys from class of 2008 who really had great pain in job seeking.

During past summer, I worked with a Ross guy, a bunch of Duke guyes. And some of my classmates also have their obeservation of the job markets in B-schools.  As a result, I'd prefer Duke for its location, its reputation in companies and actual examples.  Please consider your words of "location is not an issue to any top 10 programs".  Ross is actually the school which is suffered by the location.  Even MIT, Cornell are also suffered by location either.  I say so because it may not influence native MBAs, but definitly impacts internationl students.  It is not my imaging, it is all what I see in US job market.

if you have offers from both schools, talk to current students, just mention you are deciding between duke and ross, i am sure lots of people will be willing to talk to you, i am a michigan guy, but i have good friends at duke, therefore i can't tell you which one is better than the other, however, given your career focus, i would check with each school to find out how many CHINESE students get top consulting offers, that will be a good benchmark.

weather, you will be too busy finding jobs in your first year, not sure how much time you will have enjoying the weather regardless where you go

ranking, don't pay too much attention to ranking, it changes every year

location, unless you are interested in finance (new york obviously has a huge advantage), i doubt being at ann arbor will be a minus, otherwise, ross and tuck will probably be ranked bottom 10

alum, extremely important, if you are interested in several particular firms, find out whether there are ross/fuqua alums working at those firms, invaluable resources

Yes, I do feel uncomfortable with your words. Why? Because I think you should do your DD to find the real data to support your conclusion before making any comment.

As to the location, I can tell you my experience, I went to college in Iowa and most of the major companies do go there recruiting a couple times every year. Do you think Ann Arbor is more remote than Iowa or you think UM is not as good as any school in Iowa. If you still think location matters that much, you can check how many company recruiting in Ross vs Fuqua.

Congratulations LZ! Both of schools are great. I am in my first year at Duke and having great time here.

Regarding your decisions, here are my 2 cents and hope they help. If you wanna go consulting, there is no huge difference between these two, or any top 10. Practice case is the key. So just like what other ppl said, I would receommend you to talk with as many current students (from both schools) as you could find. Try to understand the culture, the life, and people... Then imagine your next two-year life. I bet you will find one fits you better. And then go with it, buddy.

Hope this helps. BTW, If you wanna to know more about Duke and consulting, feel free to send me a message. I am more than happy to help.

Congratulations for your offers!  These two are all great schools.  I am a duke guy, but I have very good friends at Michigan, including JK. We once formed a group named TMD (Team Michigan Duke).

Should you have any specific questions about Duke, please let me know. I will feel happy for you for choosing either one of them.

Good luck and enjoy your blue!
