This is a world with prosperous economy, although a great deal of highways, overpasses, tunnels have been built in the big cities, it can’t keep pace with the increase rate of vehicles, especially the private cars, which impose heavy burden on the transportation. Hence some people suggest that drivers pay a fee for driving in busy city streets on rush hours, which I would like to hold positive view towards.
Perhaps the fundamental reason for my view lies in the fact that the large amount of cars have laid tremendous stress on the fragile city transportation. Cars crowded in busy city streets deteriorate the traffic, even to some extend, result in more possibilities of danger accidents. Once an accident occurs, a more serious traffic jam will bring up, which comes to a vicious cycle.
The consideration of pollution may also be attributable to my inclination. It is undoubtedly that the tail gas a car produces is harmful to the
environment. With a large number of cars cramming on the streets which create a great deal poisonous gas, people’s health has been faced with numerous threaten against various diseases, which is not worth sacrificing.
Although some people may consider that this measure would bring out inconvenience for the people, I leave doubt on it. The public transportation infrastructure has developed maturely enough for people to go anywhere freely and quickly, provided that there is a friendly transportation environment in busy streets. For instance, people may choose to take bus, metro, taxi…and moreover, they are more economical and less pollutive.
From what have been discussed above, it is reasonably to draw the conclusion that to levy a fee from drivers is a necessary way to maintain a healthy transportation environment. On the other hand, it also urges people to reduce the use of private cars and pursue a public transportation tool instead.
