Help, waiting listed without interview

Waiting listed without interview at Boston College Carroll for the January 15th round.

Background: w/ 6 years work experience; 3 years as an engineer, 3 years in asset management; CFA level III candidate; GMAT 700+, iBT 99.

Any suggestion on what I can do to increase the chance of being admitted.

Thank you.

send an additional essay to the school (talk about sth. that you have not mentioned in the original application), let the school know that you are really interested in the program

I think the school is testing your loyalty.

Your background seems to be better than most of applicants in the school's application pool, so it wants to make sure that you are really interested in this school before it extends an offer to you. It wants to make sure that if you get the offer, you will attend this school so that it can have higher yield rate. Higher yeild rate contributes to higher ranking. So it is a ranking game~

Write a letter to reconfirm your interest in this school, and say it is your top choice (no matter what). You'd better make efforts in explaining why it is your favorite school while your profile can get you into a much better one.

Plan B: give it up, and apply for a better one this fall. Your profile is more like a Top10 applicant than a Top30 one. No wonder BC puts you on the waitlist.

for bu, it's ok if you're willing to wait. bu is not so prudent in ladling out admission to excellent candidates like you. probably, they are waiting for declination from previously admitted students in round one and two. so, just wait and see.

yr background is very strong. so, if having nothing to do, why not apply some better b-schools? have u applied to kellog, gsb, tepper or sloan? their finance is much stronger than bu. also, chances are you'll probably get offers from some of them.

good luck to you.

btw, application is business: both applicants and schools wish for maximzing their rewards. bu, as famous for Backup University, is not so confident in putting you on the tenterhooks. just remember, if you're applying for finance, it's easy for you to get better admission.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I did apply for Darden and Tepper, but it seemed I did not do well on the interview. I am not sure what the outcome will be in the March release dates.

I agree, you are one of those over qualified applicants.  why do you want to apply for BU anyway?

I am in U.S., and work in a small firm on asset management without US degree. An MBA will give me the opportunity to work for brand names and then go back to China.

then explain it to them.

even though you don't have US degree nor bluechip WE, but you should still be above average for BU applicants I would say.
