Accommodation has always been a very important issue, especially for college students. To them, choices should be made between living on-campus dormitory and living off-campus apartments. In fact, both the choices have advantages that the other can not provide.

For those who support living in campus dormitory, they usually hold the view that living in dormitories can play a significant role in reducing the cost. Also, since dormitories are designed for students, they usually are well equipped while apartments can not provide full facilities. It is obvious that students living in campus can have opportunities to communicate with their classmates since they are always living together. What is more, dormitories enable students to live a worry-free life. For example, they don’t have to get up early in the morning for they are living near the classrooms.

There are also many advantages that living in Off-campus apartments can provide. Finding an apartment, dealing with leases and the landlord’s regulation, cooking meals, planning budgets are all good preparations for life after graduation. This kind of independence helps students to grow more mature. What is more, everyone has his own privacy so they would always hope to find a place that can protect his privacy and only in this way can he enjoy enough respect.

If I am asked to make a choice between the two, I would choose to live in the apartment outside the campus. Although dormitory life is indeed very pleasant, I think it is the experience of living in the apartment that can help mature a student. I am in favor of the reasons mentioned above. If someone says living outside campus will make him get less chance to contact with his classmates as a result of which he may lack the ability to communicate. I would say his idea is just half right. Living off-campus really reduces the communication between I and my classmates, but on the other hand increases the chance to get to know more people in the society not just limited in the academic surroundings. So based on all the reasons, I would choose to live in apartments off-campus.
