Although the discount stores in Goreville’s central shopping district are expected to close within five years as a result of competition from a SpendLess discount department store that just opened, those locations will not stay vacant for long.  In the five years since the opening of Colson’s, a nondiscount department store, a new store has opened at the location of every store in the shopping district that closed because it could not compete with Colson’s.

Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the argument?

A Many customers of Colson’s are expected to do less shopping there than they did before the SpendLess store opened.
B Increasingly, the stores that have opened in the central shopping district since Colson’s opened have been discount stores.
C At present, the central shopping district has as many stores operating in it as it ever had.
D Over the course of the next five years, it is expected that Goreville’s population will grow at a faster rate than it has for the past several decades.
E Many stores in the central shopping district sell types of merchandise that are not available at either SpendLess or Colson’s

Which of the flowing most logically completes the argument?

The attribution of the choral work Lacrimae to the composer Pescard (1400 – 1474) has been regarded as tentative, since it was based on a single treatise from the early 1500’s that named Pescard as the composer.  Recently, several musical treatises from the late 1500’s have come to light, all of which name Pescard as the composer of Lacrimae.  Unfortunately, these newly discovered treatises lend no support to the attribution of Lacrimae to Pescard, since _______.

A the treatise from the early 1500’s misidentifies the composers of some of the musical works it considers
B the author of the treatise from the early 1500’s had no very strong evidence on which to base the identification of Pescard as the composer of Lacrimae
C there are works that can conclusively be attributed to Pescard that are not even mentioned in the treatise from the early 1500’s
D the later treatises probably had no source for their attribution other than the earlier treatise
E no known treatises from the 1600’s identify Pescard as the composer of Lacrimae

我很迷惑,请高人给讲讲选项D和题目的关系,题目说several musical treatises from the late 1500’s have come to light, all of which name Pescard as the composer of Lacrimae. 而D项则说the later treatises probably had no source for their attribution other than the earlier treatise,D项中的the later treatises指的是several musical treatises from the late 1500’s have come to light中的treatise,还是另有所指,要是另有所指我觉得有道理,要是和题目中的新发现的treatise指的是一个东东,那是不是矛盾了?
