(c) about whether the flood was gradual or cataclysmic
(d) whether the flood was gradual or cataclysmic
(e) whether the flood was gradual or it created a cataclysm

e不简洁。直接用catalysmic就可以了,为什么要变成created a cataclysm。

31题中D的结构是最简洁的。GMAT中句子要求简洁。结构要完美。同时,不能出现歧义。depend on mass 不如说mass detemines....
而且其他句子中after passing through a red giant stag的位置变化 很容易造成歧义。

最后一题

more likely to do sth.所以A错。而且in planning to ...不如plan to.

对这题很多人有不同看法: 安兄和BraveMBA兄均坚定认为是A, while sbbi & gemj think C.
Very controversial.
My key: A

1, E has the problem of parallelism. gradual//cataclysmic, both of them r adj.
2, Question Mark??? whose mass? who passing? D doesn't seem clear. PLEASE EXPLAIN!
3, I choose A

31.
A-- according to the sentence's meaning, "a star will compress itself into a white dwarf, a neutron star, or a black hole after it passes through a red giant stage" should be the subject of the entire sentence, "depending on" here is not correct
B-- here putting "passing through a red giant stage, depending on its mass" together will confuse us they two parallel to each other, change the meaning of the sentence.
C-- "if" should be " whether"
E-- here seems like "the mass passing throught the red giant stage" not "a star"
