没有奖是肯定的,不过学费生活费本来也便宜(20w以内) 总的来说,就业还是相当困难的 这是他们就业指导中心的回信,但是帮助不大~~ Excellent direct questions. You may have been told by XXXXXX that our MS in Finance program is relatively new. In my records, there has only been one previous Chinese MS in Finance graduates so far... in 2004. That student did not report an employment status and is not in our alumni database. So we do not have information on her. I do see that she applied for at least 9 interviews through our on campus interviewing process though.
There is one Chinese student who was supposed to graduate last spring, but took advantage of a New York International Finance program that we offer to our MBA's and decided to stay in the program one extra semester. So that student has not graduated yet and I'm pretty sure has not secured employment yet. There are four Chinese students in the program this year though, graduating in May 2008.
So basically we don't have statistics for you at this time to help you make you decision. But I can tell you that though the employment climate is a difficult one at ANY school for international students, we work very hard to help prepare you for the US job search. I work with you individually to prepare you for the companies who come to campus as well as to help you identify opportunities with those companies who you would want to work with who do not recruit with us physically. For instance, this March we are holding an event called the Global Options Day just for our international students where were are collaborating with two other graduate programs in the state to run an interviewing day.
I look forward to working with you if you are selected and so desire to join UB.
这是CD上以前一个UB MSF学生的信: Hi, I am an ex-student of MS Finance program. Here are some issues I faced in the program, which you might also encounter if you choose University at Buffalo MS Fin program. So be prepared to face these, when you come here. 1) MS Fin program doesn't have option to do summer internship at the end of the program. Meaning, the dept. would not give you CPT to work in an internship even if you find one on your own. 2) Finance is tough field to break into. So an opportunity like a summer internship could greatly increase your chances of finding a job later. 3) Then I heard that your I-20's are valid till Aug, 31st 2008 only. This means that you have to launch your OPT after the end of the program in the worst case by say Aug 15th,2008 This means that there would be a gap of one month (whole September) between the time your F1 status expires and H1B starts in 2009. So in this period you have to leave US by Aug 30th, 2009 and re-enter after Oct 1st,2009. Here the assumption is that you would have job that would sponsor your H1B. Because of this one month gap unless you are exceptionally talented company's might not be willing to take you. This is US, there is lots of competition, if its not you some one with similar capabilities without your visa hassles would always be available, so firms would choose him instead of you. Of course if you are exceptionally talented they would give you a temporary/permanent position in some foreign location and get you back later. But this is usually not the case (chance of this happening would be 1%). 4) Now coming to placement record. You will not get any on campus interviews through your bschool. Atleast I donot know of any MS Fin students who got campus placement interviews. The whole career resource center for that matter the whole Bschool is tuned for MBA students. Usually they get chosen over MS Finance students for interviews. But some students of MIS students do get interviews. So whatever interviews you might get would be from your own efforts. This does not mean that career resource center (crc) is not resourceful. They do give you lots of advice but nothing transforms into job interviews. So I suggest you to choose a program that usually ends in say October or November the next year and has an internship option in it. Its not worth taking the risk for the money you spend and unnecessarily put yourself through trauma. By the way, only 2 people got jobs from a batch of some 30 in MS Fin. program this year. Good luck with your visa interviews and rest. Feel free to email me. Disclaimer: These are my opinions and experiences use your discretion and at your risk. |
