求助：关于Optional Essay 的三个疑问

Optional essay中解释为什么没有选现在的上司来做推荐，就说一句：it's not suitable to let him know that I am
applying for MBA.是不是太简单了？还要解释更详细吗？（好像也没有什么更详细的可以解释了。）

另外，关于我的career gap，我中间有一年只做了Part time job,这在resume里已经解释了，还需要在optional essay中再解释吗？

Optional essay有没有篇幅规定啊？我可以在Optional essay 中既阐述我的personal characteristics that could enhance other students(因为没有essay覆盖这个内容)，再写一句关于为什么没选现在上司作推荐的解释吗？会不会感觉怪怪的。

你要注意看各学校对optional essay的要求。

大部分学校是要让你在这里解释一下你觉得会影响你application的情况，比如为什么GMAT或GPA太低，为什么现在的老板不给你写推荐信之类的。所以好像“阐述我的personal characteristics that could enhance other students”并不太合适~ 你还是专用这篇essay解释推荐信的问题吧。

Why? You should explain it here. Why you don't want your boss to know? Will this affect your promotion? Or will this cost your job?

Actaully, adcom is not very interested in reading why you don't choose your boss as recommender (because the reasons are almost the same in all the applications), so keep it brief. Three or four sentences should be enough. Just my 2 cents.

而且它required essay只有一个，就是WHY MBA？ WHY NOW？ WHY this school？我的背景不是申请MBA的主流人群（公务员），所以想用OPTIONAL essay来说一下我的独特背景，希望能为申请加分。应该可以吧？

这个目的干吗不用why mba来说？

PS. 我解释不用现在老板推荐就一句话：I have not requested a recommendation from my current supervisor since I do not want to explicitly inform him that I will resign if admitted by XXX.  这种情况普通的不能再普通了，不用为这个牵扯精力。
