Not only refusing to check his daughter’s homework, but also teaching her to lie, my uncle did not take the responsibility of a good teacher. Since is not atypical representative of parents in China, I prefer that parents aren’t the best teachers.

The initial reason I deny that parents equal best teachers is that many parents aren’t qualified. With the human civilization development, education had evolved into a complicated science. People who are qualified teachers should be trained professionally. But most of parents do not have the professional training. What they can teach to the children is based on their personal experience. In this situation, children can hardly get the qualified education from their parents.

In addition, many parents are limited on their visions and abilities, especially the parents who did not access the high educations. For example, a farmer who spends most of his life on the village would emphasize the value of hardworking or insistent. But for a well developed child, he should own but not limited to those two values. The children need to face more channels than parents to develop their personalities.

Furthermore, parents are hardly harsh enough to be good teachers. The children will experience the various situations in the future, which include the possible harsh boss. It is undoubtedly helpful if they can exercise in advance when they are children. But due to the natural love, parents hardly can play a good harsh role. Surrounding with the parents’ love, children will be used to a favorable environment and will endure many more difficulties when they finally enter the society. From this point, the parents are not the best teachers.

All in all, parents could play necessary parts in the children’s education, but the more important role should depend on the school teachers. With their professional knowledge, they can perform their responsibilities more effectively than parents do.
