97, Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Teachers should be paid according to how much their students learn. Give specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

 

Nowadays, most employees are paid according to their achievements. Generally speaking, the achievement one gets is a relatively better means to decide how much the person can be paid. However, a teacher's job is quite different from the others, and it is not wise to judge a teacher's income depend on how much the students learn.

 

To my opinion, teaching is not the only subject a teacher carries on. From the primary school teachers to the university professors, they all have different aspects on the working focus. For those kindergarten or primary school teachers, they may focus on how to lead pupils enjoy the groups life and how to treat pupils with patience. For those university professors, their main job is on academic research, and teaching is in a small percent of their daily job. Therefore, it's hard to decide their payment on how much the students learn.

 

In addition, it is also unfair to judge a teacher's payment on what the students learn. In a usual class, each student has his/her individual study attitude. Some students are diligent, or some students have some talents on study. They can get a higher score than other students. There is a fact that people can not deny, many students are not interested in study. Though the teachers try their best to teach the students in a same class, there are still different results on different students. So it is also hard to judge whether the teacher is well-done in his/her job.

 

Last but not the least, if the incentive of the teaching work is the payment, I am afraid there can not be numerous excellent students from indigent areas in our country. According to our current social economy, most students are from poor areas. In those areas, the teachers are lowly paid not because the students learn less but because the limited education resources our country can attributes to those areas. If the teachers are paid according to what the students learn, it will cause an education embarrassment, that is, scarcely can all the teachers be paid fairly.

 

In sum, because teachers’ working are something special, the payment judged by how much the students learn is not a good solution. Many other aspects should be included during the payment decision. It will lead the teachers a more positive attitude towards their job.
