“It is unrealistic to expect individual nations to make, independently, the sacrifices necessary to conserve energy. International leadership and worldwide cooperation are essential if we expect to protect the world’s energy resources for future generations.”

 Nowadays, almost every nation realizes that the energy resources, especially non-regenerative, such as oil, gas and so on, become fewer and fewer. So, someone hold that sacrifices of some nations are necessary to conserve the energy. To me, I do not think this can work out.

First of all, every nation has the right to use the natural resources, and the responsibility to conserve or protect the natural resources. The right and the responsibility are like twins. One comes out, the other must be with it. If it happens like someone holds that make sacrifices of some nations to protect energy, it is unfair. Why some nations consume the energy, but do not take the responsibility, and make other nations to bear the natural burden? So every country consuming the energy is responsible to protect the natural resources.

Secondly, international leadership and worldwide cooperation is very necessary. The role of international leadership is to supervise nations. Although some nations assert that they will protect the natural energy, or they will not to rob other country’s resources directly or indirectly, some still run counter to what they assert. Thus someone or some organization have to be the supervisor to avoid this situation. And the worldwide cooperation will circumscribe each other. No country can have the absolute right to occupy the energy and to make sacrifice on other countries.

Thirdly, our generation will benefit from the even matters. If we do make sacrifice of others now, this will lead to the war pushing for the resources in the next several generations. The sacrificed nations may consume their resources out first, then for living, they will invade other countries that still have the energy resources. In history, lots of war happened, just because some countries had something that others did not have. We cannot let the war happen again.

Shortly, it is not a wisdom choice to make sacrifice to some nations. It is unfair. Every nation, every organization, every company, and everyone should be responsible to the natural resource.
