In the twenty years, people will lead a more leisure life. Agree? Opposing the common assumption that in twenty years people will lead a more leisure life, I believe that people’s lives will be getting much busier and unhappier two decades from now due to fiercer competition on the job market, faster sharing of information, and much more dependent on the technologies. I predict that the competition on the job market will become very keen in twenty years. One of the reasons is that citizens understand how important education is. They send their children to quality schools in order to receive a good education. And they also try hard to make sure that their children can receive work-related trainings in order to land on a great job position in the future. However, with more highly trained professional jumping into the job market, the competition of getting a job position will be fierce as well. Perhaps, the number of people who will hold PhDs will double in twenty years. But they won’t be happy about the difficulties of finding a decent job on the job market. They are less likely to lead a leisure life! Thanks to the Internet and the computer technology, sharing and gathering information can be done within nanoseconds in twenty years. However, will that be easy to handle too much information that is swarming to you at the same time? I heard a lot from people who complain that they wish they could only have one choice. Then, the decision making for them will not be painstaking any more. ‘The simpler, the better’ is always in people’s mind. However, it’s a mission that is impossible to accomplish if you have more than a dozen of choices when determining something. And that will happen in twenty years. Dependency on the day-to-day use of technologies will make people feel uncomfortable in case they’re deprived of using those technologies. For instance, people all have email addresses for themselves right now. They reply on this technology to be connected to the society. However, if the internet is down, they will grow uneasy because they will feel that they are lost. In twenty years, many new technologies will be marketed and they will become common for citizens. However, while citizens place too much dependency on those technologies, they will become even unhappier due to malfunctions of those technologies. I would say that people living in a time twenty years from now will have more worries. They just cannot free themselves to enjoy a peaceful, leisure life. Based on the above reason, I cannot support the rosy prediction that people will lead a more leisure life in twenty years. In contrast, they will be much busier and unhappier than ever before.
