I will apply for the entry in Sep.2008 Fonty campus too and I'm located in Shanghai. msn shelleyzhao2006@hotmail.com.

I want to ask inseadsh one question: the everage age 2007 is 29.while I'm 33 now,to be honest will the age be big problem if I apply 2008 entry?

My ground is as below:                                                                              

since gratuate in 1998 I'm always in garment industry and I have 6 years management experience till now.From 2004 I turn to fashion direction in France group in SH office. After MBA I'd like to hunt job in luxury management or fashion management or marketing in garment. lease kindly adive whether INSEAD is good for me. Thanks very much. by the way I once went to Fonty campus during biz trip in 2005,and I'm very depressed of this fantastic biz school

Hey, there, sorry for the late reply because I did not see your question.

Like nnm said, age will not be a problem at all because what the school values is what you did before and how the school can help you succeed in the future; however, I do have to remind you that one common dilemma for students with more experience here is they will be exposed to more opportunity cost if they decide to do a career change in the end. In your case, if you have a firm decision towards luxury, INSEAD can be your dream school because we do have luxury companies such as LVMH come to campus for recruitment every year.

I am also thinking of applying for Insead 08 Fall intake.

Trying to figure out the key differences between MC and IB. Can someone enlighten me with some descriptions:

- what does MC/IB normally do? (e.g. doing strategy planning? meeting customers? doing calculation? etc.)
- what kind of character suits for MC/IB (e.g. Sales type suit for MC ? analytical for IB?)
- how are the Chinese doing in each of the 2 areas? (e.g.  career progress, salary?)
- Stress level ?
- job placement for Chinese student? (location? %?)
- any other things that need to be considered when choosing between the two.

Also about general management, what kind of positions do MBA grad usually get in operations? program manager? C*O? regional manager?

simbasl, thanks for your reply. Here is a bit more infor about myself.

I am 29 years old. Got my both degree and masters in National Univ of Singapore. Worked in Singapore for 7 years as IT project manager. GMAT 720(50, 37, 6). GPA 3. Planning to retake GMAT and hope to get 740 - 750(51, 4*,6).

I am not the sales type personality. Maybe more interested in quantitive work. I am open to both USA or Europe B-schools. But cannot decide which school to apply for.

Hi faintfree, suggest that you start with reading vault career guide for consulting and investment banking.  Your questions are somewhat too broad to answer.

In terms of personaility, as both management consulting and investment banking are so-called service business, they do expect the MBA graduate to be good at communication and interpersonal skills.  If you are strong in Quant, it might give you some edge in applying for some sales and trading position in investment banks.  But bear in mind the quant-intensive positions in S&T dept. are typically recruited from candidates with PhD in maths, physics, etc. (i.e. rocket scientist)
