                    strong defense of the United States Constitution as well as an important body of work in political science，a和an说明了单数，那这样又单数又复数的会不会有点自相矛盾呢？

这串东西不算同位语哦，是插入语修饰，说明其性质的。

那也不是完全不看~根据句子意思吧，但插入语不影响主谓语的对应咯
