USC IBEAR Interview

Just concluded the alumni interview with USC IBEAR. I did not apply to the one-year mid-career program in the first place, and got an encouragement invitation from it late last week.

The whole interview included two parts, one in English, the other in Chinese. The interview covers the following topics:

• Self introduction to the career development;
• Long-term career goals;
• How IBEAR can help you attain those goals;
• Why not an MBA at a domestic MBA program or an EMBA program, given the past achievements and age;
• Why do you apply to IBEAR;
• International exposure

My questions:

• Difference between two-year regular MBA and IBEAR in the financial aid, career services, job opportunities and learning experience
• What are the take-aways you got from IBEAR
• What were the major challenges you encountered when you were in the program;
• How has the IBEAR experience affected your career
• Any advice on benefiting more from the study

The whole interview lasted roughly 1.5 hours, from 10:00 to 11:30am at Jianguo Hotel. The alumnus is very nice and professional, offering some good insight into the MBA value to career development.

over 15 years, which puts me more suitable for IBEAR MBA than for regular 2-year MBA
