Zhu Wei, Managing Director of Goldman Sachs Gao Hua Securities’ investment banking division, gave a talk on GS’ investment banking business in China on May 25th, 2007 at CKGSB. In his first part of the talk, he introduced the history and the recent years’ performance of GS to the MBA students. In his second part, he cited Ping An’s listing in Shanghai stock market as an example of a specific case that GSGH has worked on in the domestic market.
At the Q&A session, well prepared CKGSB MBA students asked Mr. Zhu a variety of questions about his business school experience, work experience, GS’s investment banking business in China, and GS’s organization structure and its recruiting process. Mr. Zhu responded by sharing anecdotes and lessons learned from his experiences in business school, in the consulting industry and in investment banking.
Addressing those who an interest in the investment banking industry, Mr. Zhu remarked to his audience that China’s booming economy has caused investment banks to expand their business. As a result, firms like Goldman Sachs are eager to hire Chinese employees, making this a golden time to pursue a career in investment banking.
