I think those are valid concerns but you need to wilden your research scope. What paths others choose might not be a good fit for you. A few suggestions: 1. Talk to professionals from those fields 5, 10, 15 years out. See if you feel like there's "a light at the end of the tunnel." 2. Take some professional tests, go through some self-analysis and 360 degree feedback exercises, and think about what your strengths, weaknesses and interests are. It might be easier to make a technical match (good fit for your skill/interests). 3. Have faith that your mindset will change and you'll see a lot of things differently in a year or two. The exposure you will get at a top school will be very different than anything you experience now. Good luck! |
