Ok, here's my thoughts: First, only a top 7 MBA can place you a good position upon graudation in the US, given you don't have green card. Other MBA can get you a nice position in a local firm. UCSD is surely one of them, if you wanna work in San Diego, Orange county or LA area. therefore, the ranking after top 10 is actually not useful to differentiate programs. For example, a MBA which ranks 10-30 in Midwest is only gonna be useful for Midwest, because the summer internship usually indicates where you'll gonna work later, and only top 10, if not top 5, MBA graudate can find a spot in other cities. Second, 10k tuition is universal for a MBA program, however, the living cost in San Diego area is not gonna be cheap, especially you've been a manager for a while, and you need to understand that becoming a student again is tough. Third, since UCSD is a locally reputable school, it faces competition from other schools in San Diego, e.g. USD and SDSU. Although they had less reputation, they are also locally recognized school. Therefore, have you tried to apply for these schools as well? Finally, a MBA degree is a career degree. Therefore, choose a program location where you really wanna work for later. San Diego gathers lots of top notch, rich people from all over the world, and you won't regret going there. |
