大家来谈谈如何选导师

听说是要学一年课程后才定方向选导师，但也有人推荐说如果自己有兴趣所在，越早定对自己越有利。我的方向比较明确，我喜欢做investment @ capital market这一块的相关研究。我的research proposal写的是asset liability management，面试时一个面试官表示这个话题很有趣，问了几个问题。但是根据我研究老师们的PAPER，暂时没发现有相关的研究，做corporate finance的有一些，做stock market方面研究的有一些，还有一些老师的PAPER跨度太大，实在不知道是不是自己太菜鸟了，没法搞清楚这些老师的方向究竟是什么。

另外，选课方面，大家觉得应该多选一些与研究兴趣一致的课程（对我而言，比如global investment, options等），还是拓宽一些眼界，选些corporate finance方面的课呢？

My experience is that choosing a good supervisor is very important. I will ask or observe senior classmates which professors they choose and explore the reasons. As for research interests, it is not my concern since my research itnerests are very flexible and so up to the professors. Of course, before knocking the door of professors, you must have somethings in your minds, such as the research question. I think the good match of supervisors and students is mostly depends on mutual personality, and goals.

As for courses, also, ask senior classmates. If the teacher is disappointing, albeit the contents are attractive, I will not take the course.
