以下是引用Bright325在2007-4-11 10:33:00的发言:Are you kidding?? If you know nothing, then say nothing, dont mislead others,ok?? Seriously, most of my classmates are never heard of Beijing and Shanghai and professor in our department even ask me " do you have cellphones in China, do you have air conditioning in China? How come they hear about PKU and THU?????????? I have talked with our graudate coordinator whether students from famous Chinese univesities like PKU and THU are giving special preference when they select the right applicants, the professor have no idea about those "two big names" . In the view of Americans, China is just an extremely poor country like Zibabwe or Uganda. A lot of Americans bought dozens of toliet paper and mosquito-proof ointment when they came to Shanghai, casue they thought China is just one of pathetic third world country which lacks of these basic daily use commodities Americans know Thailand, Malaysia and even Vietnam much better than China. In CNN news every time the anchors refer to China, they use the words "COMMUNISM CHINA", just like some evil country like Iran or North Korea and all the news about China are negative. I know this might be irritate to those patriotic youngsters like you, but I just speak out the truth. Be open-minded and be humble, anyway, China is indeed a developing country. It is no wonder that those American are never heard of PKU and THU. These just my 0.04$ and I hope this might boost up the confidence of the students who are coming from so called tier2 or tierN schools. Remeber, never ever under-estimate yourself just because you are not from a TOP Chinese university.
