Location is absolutely important for your future career placement. Unless your program is a top 10, you don't have competitive advantages to find a job in other states. For automobile industry, i'd say emory, cause it's close to Detroit. For electronics, I will go with USC, cause California is the center of electronics/microelectronics industry. Kelly is OK if you wanna work in midwest, but it will not get you an ideal job in other areas. Georgetown is a nationally recognized university, so you should have lots of networking opportunities. Personally, just talking about the locations, I'd rank them as followings: Southwest (California) > Northeast > Big lake area > Midwest > West (O/W)> South. South is a traditionally poor area in the entire United States, therefore, it's not a place for MBA graduates to land a job.

In the States, probably only CA or Northwest can have a comparable living style with, say, Shanghai/Beijing/Shenzhen some big cities. I agree that Atlanta is a young city, and you can find a decent job there from emory. But are you satisfied? You spent 2 years just to be working in Atlanta like other local middle class? What's your advantage of being a Chinese in Atlanta? Yes, Coca Cola is in Atlanta, but the majority of its shares are held in big coporations and h/f in either northeast or California. the good jobs are in those states. California and New York are so expensive to live but there are still tons of people go there, sacrifying their big mansions in midwest. I think there's a fundamental, unchagable reason here.

Location, location, location.

USC or Georgetown

In my opinion, I do not think that the private schools are better than public schools is true!  For example, Ross and Hass are all public b-schools, but they are still better than many other private schools.

If you choose USC, it's just like you said that you will face very intense competition with UCLA and other famous public schools.  When it comes to Georgetown, definitely it is very good at finance.  But, in DC, there are a lot of governmont departments, and you still do not have many good opportunities to find a good job!

I truly believe that location is very important, but location is not everything! and it all depends on what you want!  So, maybe you can share with us what do yo want first!

If I were in your shoes, I would have a hard time to choose between Emory and USC. GTown is just so so and in DC area you have to face strong competition from Darden and other schools in the east coast; unless you are a big fan of world bank or IFC cause GTown has more network with such organizations. Kelly is pretty good in terms of reputation of Marketing, but you would not like its remote location and the rusty economy of surrounding area (Inidiana, Illinoise and Michigan).

USC is well-known across the country for its college (lots of rich people send their kids there) and football, and the location in LA would give you an edge especially if you are looking for jobs in media&entertainment (hightech and Pharm as well) But in CA, everybody knows UCLA and UCBerkerley are better schools for MBAs, which might have negative impacts on USC's career placement. One more thing to keep in mind, USC definitely has more connections with Aisa (such as HK) for its alum network.

Emory is a decent school if this is the furthest point you can get; nice reputation in the south (well, comepiting with Duke, UNC and Darden) and well-located in the city of Atlanta. I am not from there, but I have heard lots of positive comments about this school in terms of job placement for internationals. At least, companies like DuPont does recruiting for its Marketing Leadership program at Emory but not in other schools mentioned above. My impression is Emory would provide you more job opoortunities if you want to work in the U.S.

Just my two cents.
