这句话的本意是要体现the Oneida 和 "the others"是有区别的,而A" was the only one of the five-nation Iroquois League who sided "恰恰没有体现出来这种区别, 因为who 引导的定语只能修饰the  Oneida ,或者the five-nation Iroquois League 中的一个,所以句意模糊.

the only one of... who这样的句型,who只能修饰the only one,不会有歧异

one of + 复数名词 + that从句,that从句修饰复数名词;the only one of/the one of + 复数名词 + that从句,that从句修饰单数名词the only one/the one

你的例子属于前者

偶这题选C, 偶是从逻辑意思判断。

原文前半句Greatly influenced by the Protested missionary Samuel Kirkland,偶觉得要表达一个cause-relationship。so the Oneida sided with the colonists。

如果表达为：Greatly influenced by the Protested missionary Samuel Kirkland，the Oneida  was the only one of the five-nation Iroquois League 。显得不合理。

那只好说这题蛮像"写信"那一题的----主要的谓语动词该是sided---- 是吧( 记得的吧, 以前讨论过的;抱歉,记不起题目号了).

BTW,在相对权威的媒体网站做了一下搜索, 不知道是不是能有点价值:

 

发现A (The) Nation That…的用法是有的.

如: The Nation That Fell To Earth (CNN)

 

但是没有发现a (the) nation who…的例子.

 

只有

我觉得结合前文的意思是：后面的东西被the Protested missionary Samuel Kirkland影响了，而A带入后的意思是一种状态（是什么中的一个）被影响了，逻辑上和原文想表达的意思有偏差，而且我所学的是 做民族讲时 如PEOPLE 应该用单数谓语的
