What is the most important plant in your country?

 

 

 

China is a big agricultural country, and has a variety of agricultural plants, such as rice, corn, cabbage, leek, lettuce, and so forth. Among these, I think rice is the most important agriculture plant in our country for many reasons. The following passage will show you why it is important for us.

 

First and foremost, rice is a productive plant so it can feed many people. Everybody knows that China is a big country with a large population, about one quarter of the world population. If we do not have such prolific plan---rice, how can we feed ourselves? Have you ever imagined that our country has inadequate food and this large population only depends on food from other country? It is a disaster, isn't it?

 

In the second place, rice is an important economic product. All over the world, only Asia and Africa produce rice and China is produces more than half of this proportion. Though large sum were consumed by us, the rest is sufficient to export to make some money, or to interchange other kinds of products from the world market, which make our country more prosperous than before.

 

Last but not least, the other parts of rice are useful too. For instance, in the rural parts of China, where there is no gas, the stem of rice is used as a fuel, which they use everyday to cook. Another application of the stem is that when it decays, the rotten stem turns out to be a good fertilizer for the next year's production.

 

In a word, I believe that rice is the most important agricultural plant in China, for: it feeds the large population in our country, it accelerates our economy growth, and the rest parts of it are useful too. So rice is a plant of great significance in China.
