The guy is now running for the U.S. Presidency. Hmm...perhaps people in this forum should try sometimes.

Hold on a second: none of us are U.S. born.

Motion Dismissed.

Hopefully, in the near future, more and more Chinese J.D. will involved in the politics here in U.S. or back home.  There will be more Chinese judges, senators or governer here in United States.

I concur.

However, it will probably be ABCs who will make the first wave of judges, senators or governors in the U.S.

The cultural resistence of Chinese (mainland born) political involvement is quite high in the U.S. for a simple reason: Chinese are seen as Chinese nationals, not Americans with a different ancestry.  It is not racism per se: Few Africian Americans or White Americans have plans to go back to Africia or Europe for the long haul, but many Chinese will go back to China with the right opportunity.Think about it: will an average Chinese person accept a white or black guy as a province governor or judge in China? Assuming this guy speaks perfect Chinese and joins Chinese citizenship.

A Chinese who tries to be a politician in the U.S. will face an enormous hurdle to win the votes. But he will pave the way for future generations.

I am not against money. Sure, the more, the merrier. I am not against big law firm job. I think it is a balance. Like in the seminal neohawk post yesterday, sometimes in the life, hypothetically, you might have to make a choice between 70hour/week in the big law firm or spend the time with your children.

Life is too short.  I really don't think we need to live for the money. A job that suits your personality and makes you happy is the most important thing. I think it will be easy with a law degree since it is useful everywhere.

I used to have a labmate who is in the middle 30s with four kids. (he just found an industry job and left.) He was making 40~50K per year at the time I knew him. He made even less when he was pursuing h.D. His wife is a stay-home mum. They borrowed a lot of loan according to my knowledge. But they are genuine happy people.

I really don't think money matters that much in the business of happiness.

Not so fast. Who knows things won't change sometimes in the near future?

I heard California governer is working his tail off to change that.
