What is good of INSEAD is that the interviewer's name and his/her company name come with its interview notification, which means you may have a chance to know something about your interviewer and do some pre-work accordingly. It is funny that one of my friends happened to know my interviewer. He said my interviewer is...guess what? "a white asshole"... Faint Anyway, the interview was conducted in a noisy starbucks in Pu dong area. The interviewer is sort of rigid and cold at the beginning. Follows the questions he asked (maybe not all): - Why MBA? Why now and Why INEAD? --〉Suggest to well prepare this question as INSEAD is very different from top U.S B schools.
- Please briefly talk about your professional experience upon graduation.
- Tell me what your parents do? Are they supportive of your decision?
- How will you finance your MBA study?
- What other schools you applied and why?--> No right or wrong answer here I think. They just want to make sure that people who get offer won't turn it down because they get better offer, hehe. The interviewer also digged deeper like why that school.
- Tell me what is your biggest achievement in your life so far--> Could be academic or professional life. This should be in line with your essay. I think the story's better to be interesting.
- How will you select study groups? What can you contribute to INSEAD study group? --> Should also link back to why INSEAD.
- Okay, I've pretty much done with my qustion, any question for me?--> Hugh, finally...
The whole interview finished within 80 mins. The interviewer did give me some good signal at the end. He said "you've done a good job. Tell your parents to stay happy for you!" In summary, my personal experience to share with you is: - Dont get overridden or intimidated by interviewers. Show your confidence. If you think you need to adjust the pace, make a joke and laugh or ask the interviewer a question for him/her to stop and answer! Of course I'm not telling you to be aggressive here...
- Dont be a copy machine. It's necessary to prepare but just dont try to remember everything.I prepared 51 questions and just listed down the bulletpoints I would cover. Interviewers can clearly tell when you are being a machine and when you're you!
- Dont look at other places. Focus on interviewer's eyes. Eye contact can reinforce your points and show to interviewer how firm you are. Also, from interviewer's eyes, you will know when to stop and when to resume.
- Dont really be a Niu Niu even if you really are. Interviewers have seen tons of people like you and Strong people really dont have high chances to win empathy.
