I also received the same letter from the financial aid officer. However, I am still a little confused by the word "extend". Meaning begin to consider or offer the result? On the financial aid website of UNC, this is stated that the fellowship decisions will be sent out after 7 or 10 days after admission.

我个人觉得是被考虑并通知结果．因为之前的就可能有人已经拿到奖金的通知了，所以他们才说，这些考虑会应用于那些到今天凌晨还未拿到奖学金的通知那些人．可以再等等：）
