Offers: PhD in Finance at UW-Madison & GT

我觉得我接的那个UW-Madison的电话不能叫面试。我的那个是Dr. Toni Whited打过来的，就讲了大概7，8分钟的样子。

上来就向我介绍她们的program，然后她下一步要对这个program的改革：把assistants（无论是TA还是RA）的工作时间降为每周10小时，把奖学金增加到每年27000刀，把学习期限从6年降为5年。反正都是对学生有利的改革。

然后问我还有什么问题，我就随便问了两个我比较关心的。然后我问她难道没有什么问题问我？她说她基本上已经比较熟悉我的材料，然后她想知道的都已经知道了，没有任何问题要问我。她说她打电话的主要目的就是想看看我口语怎么样，然后说她很满意。

就这样就结束了。什么问题也没有问。然后就说她会从6个在final list上的candidates中选2个录取，下个星期给我答复。然后我就等，就等到了。

估计还没有接到通知的但是被面试过的candidates都会被列在waitinglist上，这是我的估计。因为也就剩6个人了。

我真的不知道ranking的问题。我没有发现任何一个有权威的PHD IN FINANCE的排名。所以我关心的就是PLACEMENT RECORD还有奖学金的高低。

在等的四个学校好像有的名气大一点，有的商学院排名高一点，有的地点好一点。PLACEMENT的情况我还要等他们给了我OFFER以后才好问。如果他们不给，我就尽快在已有的学校当中决定。

现在基本上可能的情况就是：

UW-Madison $27,000/year (maybe?) for 5 years;

Vanderbilt University $29,000/year (two fellowships, one is from Owen, the other is from the Graduate School) for 5 years;

Georgia Institute of Technology $18,000/year for 4-5 years (depends on how long I can complete the program);

University of Florida $23,000/year for 5 years

florida and madison are way top of others. especially, madison. i guess there wont be any difference between u (if u go to wisconsin-madison) and a chicago guy after graduation. in some cases, u may have better choices since chicago has a larger class size....

Of course, Vanderbilt is the best choice among those four, if you can not get any better offer in the future. Good luck!
