Hi friends, Thanks a lot for the information/experience sharing. They are informative and helpful. I would like to apply for the 2008 fall MBA. I would like to focus on the top mba in finance. Stern is my dream school. However, my background is not very fit for MBA, compared to those with IB/big4 experiences. I got my BS in a top 10 engineering univ. in China and a M.S. in a top 20 engineering univ. in U.S. So far I am working in a top Semiconductor company in U.S., as a product development engineer. I have only 1 year w/e now. I would like to pursuit career in a boarder IB field, especially IM. I am trying to think of a reasonable explanation of why to pursuit IB as my career in future. The followings are my background which I think might help. 1. Have taken 2 under-grad level and 1 grad-level finance courses from the business school in my university in U.S. (top25 mba), and got A in all of them. ---> It may indicate that I have made up my mind for the MBA before entering career. 2. Trade stocks heavily. And prepare for CFA. (schedule to take the level1 on December this year) ---> Get involve in finance. 3. Get leadership/comunication skills improved during my work. My work is not that technical, and lots of peer managment are involved. Similar to project manager, but more technical than that. ---> I gave up a technical position and took this one to aim at non-techinal career in future. I know the background listed above is not convincing, but I really wanna apply and head for finance field. Could you guys please give me and advice and ideas on how could I make them more convincing? Any comments are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks a lot, my msn is tylergu(A) hotmail.com and my another ID in CD is tylergu |
