Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? A friend who is intelligent is more important than a friend who has a sense of humor? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.
As a saying goes:” depending on parents at home, while depending on friends outside.” Friends can influence us in various ways, which kinds of friends do you need, intelligent or a sense of humor? In fact, the two characteristics are both very important to us, the intelligent friend could give us many helps when we are in trouble, while we will feel very happy with a friend has a sense of humor, as a saying goes:” a friend in need, is a friend indeed.” Therefore, a friend who is intelligent is the most important characteristic I look for.

First of all, an advantage of having a friend who is intelligent is that he/she would give us some good advice or helps when we are in trouble. Nowadays, with the rapid development of modern society, people live in the city have to confront some troublesome things in their work. Maybe some of these are easily to deal with, it is undeniable that others beyond our ability and have to turn to other people. Take a chemical engineering for example, there is a chemical project about chemical pipe design, which is a comprehensive work that need more  knowledge, such as chemistry, mechanics, math and so on, hardly can one master all of them, so it will be a good way to consult a friend familiar with these certain fields.

Moreover, easier to treat relationship is another reason why I prefer having an intelligent friend. When we spend time with him/her, who always do the things that we expect him/her to do. Because our mood, expression, and even gesture have given him/her suggestions. For example, after we talk a long time with our friend and the time is late, then he/she will probably to say:” I am so sorry to waste your time so long.” Obviously, now it is time went home. So I do not worry about say “stop talking” impolitely and led to hurting our friendship.

Additionally, an intelligent friend would be a good teacher in one’s daily life. We would benefit a lot from a wise friend if we frequently contact with him/her, such as practical skills, knowledge about certain field, even common sense, these are seldom can be found in books, as a result, maybe we become a clever person and more independent. Therefore, I think a friend who intelligent is more important than one with a sense of humor.
