Simon Interview Experience

Had a very intense telephone interview with Simon this morning. Lasted about 36 minutes.

1. Why MBA?

2. my academic experience with an overseas university.

3. Why Simon.

4. Difficult situations under team work context. give an example.

5. ethical issues encountered before. give an example.

6. weaknesses you have when you study at Simon.

7. questions for the school.

Interview is not scaring at all.  Just be yourself.  Tell them a true you.  You'll be fine.

I had interview with Ross last week.  Too normal questions.  Not as challenging as Simon's.  Well, after interview with Ross, I just felt very lost coz I don't know if I did it good or bad. 

With Simon, it's differnt experience.  I have a feeling I can get the admission from this school.  Simon gave me the chance to demonstrate my strengths with the tough questions.  Well, normal questions gave me impression that they don't wanna know more about me.

So, guys, easy questions don't tell anything; tough questions do.... It's actually a good thing to be bombarded with tough questions.

muxiatengjib, Well, it depends.  If I were an interviewer, I would ask strong applicants challenging questions to see if they are really good as shown in their applications.

I don't think they were looking for an excuse to ding an applicants by asking challenging questions.  If that's the case, then the school is too stupid.  I don't think they are so stupid to waste time to simply look for an excuse. 

Personally, I like to be challenged.  So, after interview,  I know how well I have done.  Normal questions just make me feel lost, like the Ross one.

Well, the interview style depends on the school's policies, the interviewer's personal style and other factors. 

Business school application and interview are indeed case-by-case.  I'm not here to create any general guidelines for interview, which is a mission impossible.   I'm sharing my personal experience.

Sunflare, Roos will release their decision in middle Feb for the Jan round. I'm not sure when their promised deadline is for Jan round.  The interviwer told me I can expect to know the result by middle Feb. I'm waiting now.
