I was born in a little city in the southwest of China, which is one of the most backward district of this country. I have spent my early 18 years living there. In my early memory, my hometown resembles a nature park, the air is clean, the river is clean, and everything is clean. Nevertheless, those beautiful images are fading from my brain. With the soaring improvement of the industrialization and urbanization, some wonderful views once in my hometown have gradually vanished. As a result, if possible, I would like to do something to change the deteriorating environment of my hometown.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In order to obtain more tax-income, government has been operated hundreds of factories which belong to the heavy industrial in my city. No doubt that these factories indeed bring a considerable profit to the city and the consumptions’ level of the whole society has been evaluated in a higher stage. However, every coin has two sides. While appreciating the soaring economy, at the same time, the fact should not be omit is that we obtain the increasing revenues at the expense of losing the healthy environment. The factories have been poured the dirty water into the river and released the harmful gas into the sky without strict regulation or limitation over several years. Nowadays, people can hardly enjoy the fresh water as they used to be; instead, what they inhale every day is the air which contains various chemical elements. Many serious diseases are finally caused, such as cancer. I don’t mean that we needn’t to develop the economy to improve the backward, but the advance of the city should base on the protection of the nature resource.

 

 

 

Additional, another reason for the declining quality of the circumstance is that the ascending inflows of the immigrants accompanying with the increasing economy. People in the rural villages come to the city to get higher salaries and better life. The size of the city will expand simultaneously in order to contain the extra people. It is no doubt that the extra population will occupy more land which is used to be the farm or the forest. Usually, at this time, what government consider foremost is the accommodation of the people rather than the mass pollution of the environment might suffer. This result of this situation is that we share less and less green room than ever before. On the streets, the constructed and the under-constructing skyscrapers deprive the trees and flowers. When we pull the window open, the green view we costumed to see in no longer exits, instead of it, there stand the outstanding-decorated buildings. We live in a city of concrete everywhere.

 

 

 

So, in brief, faced with these problems, the thing I want to do is prevent the pollution, which come from various directions from our city. Strengthen the supervision of the companies and factories, denounce the important aspects of protection the nature to the public, build more parks and grow more green belts around and in the city. This is the most important thing I desire to implement in my hometown if I have an opportunity.
