For ranking, it claims the 22th globally on FT Global MBA, but slipped down a few stage on 06 BW international ranking for the obviously absurd rising of three so-so canadian programs. If one agrees that LBS, INSEAD and IMD are the first tier in Europe, then HEC can be rather compatitively on the leading stage among the second tier schools, among them, IE, IESE, Oxford, MBS,Cambridge, RSM, etc. As you may know, however, these ranking says limit about the depth and breadth of a program due to the fact that no ranking in the world can totally get free of biased judgment.
For faculty, though its composition is mainly on French basis, the quality of stuff is still strong, HEC has a large number of top-level professors whose reputations in their searching field are quite influential. One disadvantage is that some of the star professor only teach French track and so, those whose French level is low lose the opportunity to catch this benifit.
For academic strength, HEC is particularly strong in Marketing, Operational Management, Strategy and Finance. The shining point in its curriculum design lays in the second half part that allows a large flexibility to students to intensify in their own academic interest. Also, the ideal length of program, 16 month, makes its learning experience neither too fleeting nor too loose while providing enough albowroom for career swichers.
For student, the caliber is comparable to that in any top-school. Some guys are from those big-name schools, like Harvard, Yale, Columbia, NYU, Michigan, etc. And the majority of them are from industry, finance and consulting. 80% are from outside France. Many Taiwaneses, Indians, but a few Chineses.
For job and salary, damn easy to find a job in France and Europe as a whole. HEC guys often build their competitiveness in industry. The average salary is 102821 USD. But anyone should bear this in mind, the tuition fees of it is just 38000 Euros and if added the scholarship, it has a very high degree of ROI.
Welcome to this forum.
btw, good selling...
HEC is indeed a good school, expecially for those who want a job in France and Europe.
