therefore, the herb’s high histidine production is what allows it to grow in metal-rich soils, a hypothesis that would gain support if ______.==>要支持是histidine令这个herb可以在metal-rich soils里成长的,而D选项cultivation of the herb in soil with high concentrations of the metals will, over an extended period, make the soil suitable for plants to which the metals are toxic ,只能说明herb的生长令这块地的金属便成惰性的了,让这土地适合其他植物生长了,但是并没有说明是herb里的什么令金属便成惰性的,说不定是其他物质呢?所以个人认为D不能支持结论
