number of words for each essay question answers in recommenation

There is upper limit of words for each question answers. For example, most of the questions require the answer to be no more than 250 words. However, for some question, commenting on English proficient, personality, or relationships, I find it difficult to say anything longer than 100 words. Does anyone know whether the schools prefer the reference answers to be as long as possible? Any idea of making the answers longer? Thanks.

There's no lower limit.  Your recommender should say as much as he/she feels is necessary to answer the question.  He/she can give some concrete examples (stories) to support the answers.
